1. The figures indicated are estimates, and in the absence of a detailed
study and in view of fluctuating prices in the north, the actual figures
may vary as much as by 20 pct.
2. A proper design of the total development is necessary, to create
the necessary ambience and to cut down the costs as well. While buildings
could be put up on a staggered basis, it should form part of the total
plan. In the absence of the total plan, the figures indicated here are
for construction on a stand-alone basis.

Item
A1.
Auditorium We managed to obtain the Ministry
of Education’s agreement to build a new Auditorium at a cost of Rs.15
Million in two or three stages. We have forwarded the plan developed
by us to the Ministry and await their building unit’s
concurrence/amended plan. This would be built on the land purchased by
the Trust opposite the school. It appears that the initial amount to
be released by the Ministry would be Rs.2 Million only, which is of
concern since it may not be sufficient to complete at least some part
of the project. However we have been advised that a further sum would
be released from the 2006 budget allocation in January 2006.

Area
of concern still is the non availability of a temporary Assembly Hall
to hold meetings/assemblies etc. We are looking at temporary
structures to house this function, which could be eventually used in
the new Auditorium or at the grounds. The new Principal would shortly
advise of the options available.

A.2 FACADE TO SCHOOL ENTRANCE
To build
a proper facade to the school entrance, in line with the image school
had and still holds, since the lay out we had earlier has been totally
disfigured, following occupation by the Army, and building of class rooms
every where out of necessity.
Construction-
Need a proper Architect’s plan/design to estimate the cost.
Need:
SHORT
TERM
1. A Past pupil, ideally an Architect, to volunteer to draw the
design, or for some one to pay for outsourcing the task, which will
cost Rs.300, 000.
|
MEDIUM
TERM
1. Funding the building of the facade, the cost of which depends
on the design.

change as this not an urgent priority. |
A.3. ADDITIONAL CLASS ROOMS
The 12
Class Rooms built by NECORD at a cost of Rs.6 Million has been completed
in November 2005. Another NGO, SDC has committed the building of another 2
Class rooms (expected completion in September 2006) and with this the need
for class rooms would be fully satisfied.
A furniture replacement program has been commenced with the assistance of
Canada Branch, where 10 class rooms would be provided new furniture (for
35 students each) at an approximate cost of Rs.1.3 Million. Contract has
been awarded and the first class room has been furnished already and we
believe the whole program would be over by March 2006.
Need:
SHORT
TERM
1. Identify a funding agency, either government or a NGO to pay for
this, and follow up on it. Need a sponsor for max Rs. 3 Million to
pay for the difference.
